Ontologies & Terminologies

We undertake the building of brand new ontologies as well as the expansion of existing ones with new terms and concepts extracted from publications, websites and other biomedical databases. We rely on our specialized tools along with expert manual curation to create ontologies that provide a standardized vocabulary to describe biological entities, phenomena, and relationships in a specific domain of interest.

Our ontologies comply with the Open Biological and Biomedical Ontology (OBO) Foundry principles and follow the structure depicted by the Basic Formal Ontology (BFO). The ontology is delivered as a '.owl' file and can be successfully parsed through the Ontology Lookup Service.

Sources of extraction are:

Biomedical Literature

Scientific articles:research papers and reviews, Electronic Helath Records
